Music With a Mission: Live Aid 40 Years Benefit Concert

On October 30, 2025, Montreal honors the legacy of the world’s most iconic concert with a night of unforgettable music—supporting MotherFood® International’s fight against hunger.

Why This Night Matters

Forty years ago, the world came together through music to confront famine in Africa. Live Aid was more than a concert. It was a global call to action.

On October 30, 2025, Montreal will honor that legacy at Le 9e with a special anniversary concert. An unforgettable lineup of local singer-songwriters will perform iconic music from the 1985 show, including songs by U2, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Queen, and more.

The fight against hunger isn’t over.

  • 735 million people still go to bed hungry each night.
  • 45 million children suffer from severe malnutrition.
  • Recent cuts to global aid have put millions more at risk.

Your ticket helps change that.

Who Your Support Helps

All proceeds from Live Aid 40 benefit MotherFood® International, a Montreal-based nonprofit empowering women entrepreneurs in vulnerable regions to produce and distribute fortified, culturally relevant foods.

This sustainable model prevents malnutrition and creates livelihoods that break the cycle of poverty. When women thrive, communities become more resilient and self-reliant.

Event Guests

Montreal guitar legend and frontman Frank Marino, who has battled shoulder and hand issues that eventually forced him into retirement, will make his return to the Montreal stage on Thursday, October 30, at Le 9e.

He’ll join 20 other Montreal music aces, including Juno winners Dawn Tyler Watson and Steve Hill, Shane Murphy, Jonas, Jake Clemons, Howard Bilerman, Tim Kingsbury (Arcade Fire), Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade), James Correa and more, including a house band of Rob MacDonald, Alec McElcheran, Dan Legault and Yves Frulla (Celine Dion).

The artists will perform over 30 of the best songs from the original Live Aid concert on July 13, 1985, at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia.

Proceeds of this special one time only event will go to MotherFood International, a Montreal non-profit organization formed 10 years ago to prevent child malnutrition.

Marino – who formed and fronted Mahogany Rush from 1968 – 2020, will be joined by drummer Josh Trager, who left Mahogany Rush to join Sam Roberts Band in 2005. This will mark Marino’s first concert in nearly 10 years. And it’ll be the first time Marino and Trager reunite.

The iconic Live Aid concerts featured over 90 songs across 12 hours performed by such rock luminaries as Queen, U2, The Who, Elton John, David Bowie, Simple Minds, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Pretenders, Dire Straits, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Hall & Oates, Patti Labelle, Phil Collins, Black Sabbath and Neil Young.
